When the poetic mood meets music and they become one.
[dropcap size=big]C[/dropcap]oming from Stafford, England, Editors -Tom Smith (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Russell Leetch (bass guitar, synthesizer, backing vocals), Ed Lay (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Justin Lockey (lead guitar), and Elliott Williams (keys, synthesizers, guitars, and backing vocals) – did us the honor of returning to Greece for two performances. On December 4 they had a concert in Athens, and the next day, on December 5 they had a concert in Thessaloniki, and, as «Βritish» they appeared on stage on time, as it had been scheduled.
In case someone does not know them well, they are an indie rock band with some post punk influences, but, the exceptional elements of their success are, except for the amazing voice quality and voice range of Tom Smith, the unique lyrics of their songs, which could belong to a modern poetic collection. Despite the use of a slightly unfamiliar vocabulary and some metaphorical concepts that make it difficult to understand all the lyrics, the way Tom sings in combination with his special, immediate contact with the audience are enough for somebody to understand even the punctuation that they place among the words.
Well, we were there, at a sold out concert, in Principal Club Theater, which was crowded with fans from all Northern Greece, who came to see them live. Tom, smiling as always and a little shy (in the beginning) during the few times he was talking and not singing, he was constantly expressing his gratitude by saying «thank you» both in Greek and English. It was an almost two-hour concert that had everything… Energy, emotion, applause and all these in the superlative degree.
We hope they will come back soon and we are looking forward to many more moments like this.
